It's great to be back on the golf course after recent events and let's hope focusing on social distancing, hand-washing and staying alert means we can continue to beat the virus and play golf for the rest of the year.
Our club has a great track record of charity fund-raising and in recent years The Brain Tumour Charity, Guide Dogs, Alzheimer's Society, Wessex Breast Cancer Haven and many others have received tens of thousands of pounds in money we have raised. Jax Griffin and I were hoping that Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) would be added to that list of charities who benefit from our member's generousity. The recent pandemic has significantly impacted this years fund-raising with the cancellation of the Captain's Charity Day and other charitable activities.
For the last four years, a small group of golfers have completed a Longest Day Challenge - playing 72 holes in a day over The Forest and The Manor courses raising funds for charity. This year the same challenge is taking place on June 22nd but it's significance is greater than ever - it represents the biggest opportunity this club may have this year to support MNDA. I'll be playing the 72 holes and along with a group of fellow players, we are hoping to raise a big sum for MNDA. With this in mind, I am joining forces with Lynn Pack, Jay Naismith, John Wright, Ray Nother, Joe Buenfeld, Ryan Archer, Tony Sweeney, Anthony Sweeney, Paul Gurr, Mark Kretowicz and Mark Bolton
