Friendly Matches - 2022 Season

The last men’s friendly match was fought out in very friendly spirit on a lovely day last Sunday, 9th October on the Manor Course and in the clubhouse afterwards. The 2-4 loss to Paultons on the day means we won all but two of the matches during the season and a good variety of members enjoyed some excellent outings. There were a mixture of players new to such matches and others who have been involved for years.

We hope next year to introduce additional new faces in our updated diary / fixture list which will be publicised soon.

The Men's Captain's Cup

The Men’s Captain’s Cup took place on Saturday, 17th September on the Manor Course.

The new trophy was hard fought for on a lovely day, with the course in great condition. The top seven pairs all signed for a better ball medal score of Nett 66 and prevailing on countback were Ian Schofield and Wayne Giles, the inaugural winners of the new trophy. In addition to second and third prizes, the three players who made a 2 each won 15 Pro V1s.

After golf, the players enjoyed dinner and some splendid entertainment from Boris Johnson (aka Mike Osman) – Tim Lees and one of his £20 notes, Ian Morgan and his leather necklace and Ken Ampleford, the Pompey fan, all being targets of the ex-Prime Minister’s wit!

As part of the PM’s games, which involved guessing whether the Captain had made putts of a variety of lengths, the studious Rob Barrington managed to win a fourball at Remedy Oak – great fun and games!

See you at next year’s event!

Monty League Winners 2022!

What a fantastic collective effort from the Bramshaw squad we have seen this season, resulting in a comprehensive win in the Monty League.

Well done to Jack Murphy who was unbeaten in his 11 matches, with the best aggregate return of 32 holes up for the season. He narrowly edged out Bruce Lawrence on 31 and wins our Steve Pack Memorial Trophy for the first time.
